Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
