The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded recently, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the top winner. This surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive secured the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with honors for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the studio's triumph, its skilled actors also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Top Studio. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards throughout the event.
Additional major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Outstanding Audio and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. Notably, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only four special—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by critics.
